Paly Theatre Summer Camp
As a freshman I founded a summer camp to fund Paly Theatre, and over four summers it raised about $70,000.
It became the department’s main source of income.
Who was left out
Paly Theatre needed money for its productions, for extracurricular opportunities for its students, and for scholarships.
I handled the insurance and the permits myself.
What I made
I proposed a summer camp as a freshman and founded it as a student-run camp for rising 6th to 9th graders, generally ages 11 to 14. I ran operations, marketing, permits, insurance, and curriculum. It grew to more than 40 staff and more than 110 campers.
What happened
Over four summers the camp raised about $70,000 and became the theater department’s main source of income. In my final year I handed the operating knowledge to a successor so the camp would outlast me.
